Fried rice is a versatile and popular dish that can be made with various ingredients and flavours. It is commonly associated with Chinese cuisine but has variations in other Asian cuisines as well. Fried rice is made by stir-frying cooked rice with vegetables, proteins, and seasonings. Here's a basic recipe for making fried rice:

Ingredients:

? 2 cups cooked rice (preferably chilled or day-old rice)

? 2 tablespoons oil (such as vegetable or sesame oil)

? 1 onion, diced

? 2 cloves garlic, minced

? 1 carrot, diced

? 1 cup mixed vegetables (such as peas, bell peppers, corn, or broccoli)

? 2 eggs, beaten

? 2 tablespoons soy sauce

? 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)

? Salt and pepper to taste

? Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

1. Heat the oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

2. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pan. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent and the garlic is fragrant.

3. Add the diced carrot and mixed vegetables to the pan. Stir-fry for a few minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender.

4. Push the vegetables to one side of the pan and pour the beaten eggs into the other side. Allow the eggs to cook for a moment, then scramble them with a spatula until they are cooked through.

5. Add the chilled or day-old cooked rice to the pan. Break up any clumps and stir-fry the rice with the vegetables and eggs, ensuring that everything is well combined.

6. Drizzle soy sauce and oyster sauce (if using) over the rice. Mix well to evenly coat the rice and vegetables with the sauces.

7. Season the fried rice with salt and pepper to taste. Adjust the seasoning and sauce quantities according to your preference.

8. Continue stir-frying for a few more minutes until the rice is heated through and slightly crispy.

9. Remove the pan from heat and garnish with chopped green onions.

 

You can customise your fried rice by adding proteins like cooked chicken, shrimp, or tofu, and additional seasonings like ginger, sesame oil, or chilli sauce. Fried rice is a versatile dish that can be enjoyed as a standalone meal or served as a side dish alongside other Asian dish.
